New Poll: Kill the 'Lieberman' HCR Bill?

by: torridjoe

Tue Dec 15, 2009 at 10:57:50 AM PST

We all know what's happened to the health care reform bill in the Senate...so far. Think whale carcass, serendipitously beached in a village of starving Aleutians. If the word "near-total gutting" comes to mind, you win a prize.

What to do now? Progressive heroine Darcy Burner says Kill it, kill it now!, while trenchant political analyst Nate Silver says that's batshit crazy (his words!). (Meanwhile, Ron Wyden told progressives to "keep fighting!," begging the question of when he and his Democratic colleagues will begin to fight; perhaps more on his interview last night with Rachel Maddow, later.)

So, what do you think? Tell us, in the new LO Poll on the left sidebar...

UPDATED: DSCC Poll: Merkley within single digits of Gutless Gordon Smith

by: carla

(Scootching this up to the top because of the update. - promoted by carla)

Update: I've been talking to my sources today and they're telling me that Merkley is within SIX POINTS of Smith.

The people whose job it is to get Gordon Smith reelected must be chewing their nails to the quick.

Over at MyDD, Jonathan Singer has the bad news for Gutless Gordon:

According to this Democratic polling, Smith is well below 50 percent in a head-to-head matchup against potential Democratic challenger Jeff Merkley, who currently serves as Speaker of the State House (the first Democratic Speaker in the state in nearly two decades). Perhaps more importantly, the poll shows that Smith's lead over Merkley is only in the single digits -- meaning that Merkley is already well within striking range of Smith.

An undeclared candidate with marginal statewide name recognition is at single digits against an incumbent? Not to mention an incumbent trying to go out of his way to waffle around on the issue on the minds of most Americans: Iraq.

Things aren't looking so good for the Gutless One.
