Smith Hits 28-Month Approval Low-- 46%

by: torridjoe

Read it and weep, Gordo: in the August edition of Survey USA's monthly poll on the US Senate, Senator Smith drops to his lowest approval and net approval ratings in over two years. Asked to evaluate the job being done by the Republican from Pendleton, just 46% approved, with another 44% disapproving, for a measly +2 net approval. (Oregon's other Senator, Ron Wyden, ran a 58/33 split in August, holding steady with a +25 rating. It's not cranky Oregonians--it's you, Gordon.)

More later as I digest the subgroups...but things are clearly going from bad to worse for Smith.

Taken with the Riley numbers... (0.00 / 0)
...(which I don't put too much stock into) it seems that people outside of Portland metro hold a worse opinion of el Grodito than the "liberal Portland".

If Smith has to fight hard to corral the rural vote, that means he isn't focusing on the suburban metro swing vote, which means he is in serious trouble.

Granted I have not looked at the Survey USA numbers yet, and this is over a year out, but still.

cheers,

Mitch Gore

Yep, Smith bleeding his support outside of Portland (0.00 / 0)
Portland
Approve 46%
Disapprove 43%
Not Sure 11%

Rest of State
Approve 45%
Disapprove 44%
Not Sure 11%

Same caveat about it being so far out form the election, but still. Trends are going our way on this. If we can keep hitting him in the portland metro about NOT being a moderate, he will be in some real real trouble.

cheers,

Mitch Gore

Smith reelected (1.00 / 1)
So far no opposition. I predict Smith wins by large number; of course, Oregon loses. 2 bad senators and not much from repesenatives..we is in deep sh**t.

Shaft?  Shout?

A look at your previous comments:

"We can thank Billy Clinton for infrastructure failures."

"49 is flawed as bad or even worse than 37. What part of voters decision does the dimmos not understand. This isn't a tweak, it is a blasphemy. The highest court in Oregon agreed with the voters, not often done."

"The smokers are held for ransom by our cowardly governor and dimmo legislature."

"State Rep Diane Rosenbaum" is "a left-of-Moscow dimmo" and "a gun-grabber"

Did you know the word "dimmo" makes you sound twelve?

Are you twelve?
